The global ordering of larger tonnage may have suffered a slowdown but there is plenty of evidence that demand for smaller containerships remains strong.

It is a trend benefitting German yards, where those in the Detlef Hegemann group at Rolandwerft in Bremen and Peene-Werft in Wolgast are doing particularly well.

Each is said to have sealed orders for around 20 mainly feeder boxships.
