Three Cypriot shipowner bodies have joined forces to form a strong lobby of well-known shipping names under the title Cyprus Union of Shipowners (CUS).
But the island's most active professional affiliation, the Cyprus Shipping Association (CSC), has so far been left out of the loop.
The trio that has joined forces consists of Cyprus Shipowners' Association (Sea Rovers) Ltd, established in 1981 by Charalambos Mylonas of Transmed Shipping, the Union of Cypriot Shipowners, founded in 1983 by Loucas Haji-Ioannou, and the most recent addition to the island's shipowner associations, the Union of European Shipowners with Cyprus Flag Ships, set up earlier this year by Michael Ioannides.
