The gas-marketing and chartering wing of New York-based trader ContiGroup has been acquired by low-profile, Piraeus-based operator Swissmarine.
ContiGroup is responsible for 12% of world LPG trade and makes Swissmarine a major force in the gas trade.
The business has been renamed SwissChemGas Ltd.
Swissmarine has so far concentrated on tweendecker operation so the move into trading LPG mainly to the Far East appears to be a major diversification.
