Hamburg shipowner Claus-Peter Offen has confirmed plans to take over the Munich-based Conti Group in what is another move towards consolidation in the German shipping sector.
The deal, which is flagged up in this weeks’ edition of TradeWinds, was unveiled today following an agreement between shareholders of both companies.
The Offen Group will take over 100% of the shares of Conti as well as a qualified majority of shares in technical shipmanager Bremer Bereederungsgesellschaft BBG, a statement said.
