In that tradition, Senator Frank Horch of the city’s Ministry for Economy hosted a reception in the grand Town Hall to welcome delegates from this year’s partner country, the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Horch spoke of the growing maritime links between the parties, especially in view of the merger of Hapag-Lloyd and United Arab Shipping Co (UASC). He noted the port of Hamburg’s strength as a transhipment hub for the Baltic, as well as its “smart port” and emissions-reduction programmes.
