Torvald Klavessness boss Lasse Kristoffersen says the shipping industry can learn lessons from the emergence of companies like Uber and Airbnb.
“New technologies enable new business models to emerge, and have given a face to the sharing economy,” he says in a blog posted on the Klaveness website.
“Today, ships are increasingly joining the ‘internet of things’ and with all vessels carrying AIS transponder, everyone can see their position, direction and speed in real time.
