Japanese FPSO giant Modec is believed to have stepped into the tanker sale-and-purchase market for the first time in three years.
Tokyo-listed Modec has bought the 306,000-dwt Flandre (built 2004), which was reposted sold by Euronav for $45m, brokers say.
Attempts to reach Modec for comment were unsuccessful at the time of writing on Tuesday.
