LNG accounted for nearly half of total gas imports into the UK in the first quarter of 2011.
Figures from the Department of Energy and Climate Change show that 43.3% came from LNG, standing at 78.37 Terawatt hours. This represents a 63.2% increase on LNG imports from the same period last year.
The report also puts gas as the lead electricity source in the UK for the quarter.
