Statoil and Thailand’s PTTEP have signed a preliminary agreement to work together on LNG on a global scale.

The Norwegian company said the memorandum of understanding also involves co-operation in conventional and unconventional energy resources.

It builds on a previous partnership under which Statoil agreed to sell PTTEP a stake in an oil asset.

“Through this MoU, we are delighted to extend our co-operation and express our intention to identify joint business opportunities and technology development projects,” said Statoil chief executive Helge Lund.
