Southern Union has formed a joint venture with BG Group to add liquefaction capacity at the Lake Charles import terminal on the US Gulf Coast.
The project proposed for the Trunkline LNG terminal makes Southern Union the fourth terminal operator to consider exporting US natural gas as LNG.
The companies have filed applications with the US Department of Energy for long-term export authorisation.
