China’s lone LNG carrier shipbuilder has delivered its sixth vessel and is now switching its attention to its larger-size orders. Shanghai-based Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Group handed over the 147,000-cbm Shen Hai to Cosco-China Merchants joint venture China LNG Shipping (Holdings) Co (CLNG) on 20 September. The LNG carrier, which at one point was going to be jointly owned with Malaysian giant MISC, was originally contracted to ship cargoes from Petronas’ production in Malaysia into China National Offshore Oil Corporation’s Shanghai LNG import terminal.
