A second floating liquefaction unit could come into play at Japanese operator Inpex’s multibillion-dollar Abadi project in the Masela block off Indonesia.

The initial development at the gas field has been scaled down to a 2.5 million tonnes per annum floater rather than the originally planned 4.5 million tpa unit.

However, an official from Indonesian regulator BPMigas said he does not rule out the possibility of a second FLNG unit if the project undergoes further development.
