LNG made its way into the US presidential race Thursday as a stand-in for Republican Mitt Romney questioned delays in approving exports under Barack Obama.
Lawyer Linda Stuntz, representing Romney in a campaign debate in the capital, asked why proposed LNG exports were being treated differently than that of other commodities, including refined petroleum products and timber.
The Department of Energy is weighing several applications to export LNG.
