Porto Empedocle LNG is the second import terminal this month to navigate Italy’s permitting maze successfully.
The Council of State, a national administrative tribunal, this week overturned a government order that halted the development earlier this year. Enel can now press ahead with construction work at the 8 billion cubic metres per annum terminal in Sicily.
The company aims to kick off preliminary activities after the summer holidays and expects the whole project to take around 54 months to complete, confirmed a spokesman.
