The ExxonMobil-led Papua New Guinea LNG project is about to spud the first of multiple development wells amid anticipation the drilling could lead to a major reserves boost.
The two-year campaign includes at least 10 wells on the Hides field, which is the main feedstock gas supplier for the $15.7 billion liquefaction and export project.
The Hides field contains about 5.5 trillion cubic feet of gas but could be even larger, it is understood.
