Novatek widens Northern Sea Route window for Yamal LNG shipments

Would-be Russian LNG producer Novatek said it believes the navigation period for the Northern Sea Route to Asia may be extended by another month.

Company officials said in a results briefing this week that the Arctic NSR, where it is currently conducting test runs for future LNG cargoes from its Yamal LNG project, may be navigable from July into November.

Novatek shipped the first cargoes of condensate along the sea route last year and this summer has upped the number of voyages as it seeks a shorter journey time to Asian markets to prove up the economics of Yamal.
