Japanese energy outfit JX Nippon Oil and Energy has signed off a binding deal to buy 300,000 tonnes per annum of LNG from the Gorgon project.
The move firms up a heads of agreement signed with Chevron, the operator of the scheme in northwestern Australia, in January.
Under the contract, Nippon will receive LNG from the supermajor’s share of production from the three-train, 15 million tpa Gorgon facility for a period of 15 years.
