Southern LNG plans to install a nitrogen injection system at the Elba Island import facility (above) in Savannah, Georgia.



The upgrade would allow the company to adjust the calorific value of cargoes bought on the spot market to make the vaporised gas suitable for the US network.



SLNG filed a request with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission last week. Marathon LNG, a long-term capacity holder at the terminal, has since asked FERC to provide further clarification.
