Liberty Natural Gas plans to submit a revised deep-water port licence application for a floating LNG terminal off the US north-east coast by the year-end.

The developer said that should give it the time it needs to address concerns raised by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.

Christie had attempted to veto the development after speaking out about unforeseen environmental impacts.

The Maritime Administration ruled the governor’s comments were not legally binding at this stage of the process and so allowed Liberty to continue with the application.
