Latvia’s Economy Ministry has promised that its plans to build a new LNG terminal in Riga would not play into the hands of Russian gas giant Gazprom.
A recent feasibility study found the city to be the ideal location for a regional regasification plant to serve the Baltics, using its existing underground gas storage facility, in which Gazprom has an interest.
