Alaska’s soon-to-be-mothballed Kenai LNG export project looks set to eke out a little more production over the next few months to help its gas-hungry Japanese customers.

The Nikiski plant’s operators ConocoPhillips and Marathon Oil are understood to have extended the charter-hire on the sole remaining LNG carrier, the 89,900-cbm Polar Spirit (built 1993), serving the facility.

The vessel will now be on hand to lift Kenai cargoes until late summer.
