Japan’s big five utilities have struck a deal to divvy up just over 4 million tonnes per annum of supply from Inpex’s Ichthys LNG project in Australia.



Representatives from Tokyo Gas, Tokyo Electric Power Company, Kansai Electric, Osaka Gas and Kyushu Electric are understood to have met last week to agree on the carve-up.



The companies formed a consortium to work on securing the Ichthys volumes, sources said, but the individual deals have yet to be signed off by the various senior managements.
