Japan sourced over 6 million tonnes of LNG in April representing an 8.8% rise in imports on last year’s figures.
The Ministry of Finance has published official data for the first time since the March earthquake and tsunami battered the country and affected nuclear production.
According to its estimates, Japan spent 337.8 million yen ($4.13 million) on its LNG for the month.
