An announcement following a cabinet meeting did not say how much of that figure would come from the United States and how much from Canada, Reuters reported.
However, Tokyo has its eye on the continent as a way to bring down costs for Japanese utilities, which facing financial shortfalls since the shutdown of all the nation’s nuclear power plants.
