Icon Energy has revealed how it prevented a spat with rival Beach Energy from blocking an LNG sales deal to China.
The Australian exploration outfit said in an operational update this week that it voluntarily pledged not to take any actions on a disputed Cooper Eromanga basin tenement that would get in the way of Beach’s claims of farm-in interests.
The aim was to ensure it could close a deal late last month with China’s Shantou SinoEnergy for the supply of 40 million tonnes of LNG over 20 years.
