John Fredriksen-controlled Golar LNG has confirmed another LNG carrier newbuilding at Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea bringing its newbuilding tally to seven firm vessels.
Industry players said the company signed the contract in the last few days and hint that this time Golar has opted for an LNG regasification vessel for 2014 delivery. The owner, which is bidding to provide Brazilian giant Petrobras’ third LNG floating storage and regasification unit, is also said to be intent on firming up a second option at the yard.
