Norwegian shipowner Golar LNG is swooping in on the remaining shares in Golar LNG Energy after kicking off a compulsory acquisition.

The John Fredriksen-controlled parent has exercised its right under Bermuda company law to obtain the outstanding 0.6% of shares in its corporate spin-off at a price of 26.80 Norwegian kroner ($5.02).

Over the last couple of months, Golar LNG has lifted its holding in a series of acquisitions from 61% to the current 99.4%.
