Uruguay’s Gas Sayago joint venture has switched the location for the country’s planned maiden LNG import terminal from an offshore site to inshore waters.
Officials from the alliance of state companies Ancap and UTE said they are now focusing on a floating storage and regasification unit to be sited off Montevideo Port (pictured).
However, further studies are needed to ensure the facility will not conflict with a planned expansion of the port, one added.
