Italian energy outfit Eni has revitalised PetroSA’s plans to import LNG through a preliminary agreement to work together on securing supplies.
A wide ranging memorandum of understanding on cooperation signed today sees both parties agree to study joint initiatives for LNG imports.
The agreement will also support the evaluation of the potential for Eni to provide long-term LNG supplies to South Africa’s national oil company, which has a long history of seeking to bring in the fuel to ease the republic’s chronic energy shortage.
