Excelerate Energy has homed in on Port Lavaca in southern Texas to provide the site for its planned floating liquefaction unit.
The Houston-based shipowner and floating regasification pioneer has secured a purchase option for a plot at the Gulf Coast port, said chief executive Rob Bryngelson.
Initial plans are to start up a 3 million to 4 million tonnes per annum floater in 2017.
