Hess has started drilling of a long-awaited deep-water wildcat off West Papua in Indonesia.
The US independent said it spudded the Andalan probe on the Semai V block on 12 July. It has a 100% working interest in the permit.
The company has been ready for months to drill the well but had to wait for Murphy Oil to finish using the semi-submersible rig Ocean Rover.
