Dominion Cove Point LNG has asked for the tools to force cargoes to offload at its US terminal to prevent it from ceasing operations.
The Maryland facility is struggling to secure enough volumes to keep cryogenic facilities cool, a side effect of the boom in domestic shale gas that is helping to keep LNG imports out of the US.
In a filing with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, terminal operator Dominion Cove Point called for a number of tariff changes to help encourage imports and also asked for clarity on its right to issue a so-called operational flow order.
