World leading energy consumer China maintained steady levels of LNG imports in April with just a 1% rise year-on-year recorded.
LNG imports over the first quarter, however, jumped up 25% to 2.3 million tonnes, according to Beijing-based General Administration of Customs data.
Purchases reached 851,196 tonnes in April and came in at around $382 million.
Despite only a moderate rise in imports, the price of LNG rocketed to see China pay around 44% more in April as crude oil prices rose, reports Bloomberg.
