Statoil has signed a deal to supply Malaysia’s Petronas with 1 billion cubic metres per annum of LNG for three and a half years.

The Norwegian outfit said the contract marks the first Asian LNG supply agreement with Petronas.

Statoil will provide volumes for Malaysia’s new jetty-based, 3.8-million tonnes per annum facility near Malacca.

The first cargo will be delivered in August, shortly after the terminal starts up.
