South Hook LNG partners in power play

South Hook LNG shareholders have proposed building a gas-fired power plant at the UK import facility.

Qatar Petroleum, ExxonMobil and Total have submitted a scoping report to national authorities for a 500-megawatt combined heat and power plant. The facility will “produce sufficient electricity to both meet the existing LNG terminal’s power needs and to export surplus electricity”, the partners said.

The regulatory filing also shows the group is exploring whether to modify existing submerged combustion vaporisers at the 15.6
