Singapore’s Energy Market Authority is considering plans for a second LNG terminal, an official said.
EMA chief executive Chee Hong Tat said the project is a longer-term goal but did not elaborate further.
The official also said that LNG can replace piped gas from neighbouring Malaysia and Indonesia if existing contracts are not renewed.
“Supply will come under pressure because of growing domestic gas demand in Malaysia and Indonesia,” he said in a Reuters report.
