Shell has teamed up with India’s Reliance Power and Kakinada Seaports to develop an LNG import terminal on the country’s east coast.
The joint venture will set up a 5 million tonnes per annum regasification project at Kakinada deepwater port in the southeastern state of Andhra Pradesh. It is due online in by 2014.
The terminal will feed Reliance’s 2400 MW gas-fired project at Samalkot.
