EcoElectrica, which operates Penuelas LNG, is in discussions with PREPA over a second storage tank as it starts commissioning a current expansion project.
The Puerto Rico government is evaluating construction of a 160,000 cubic-metre unit with new vaporiser capacity at the island’s lone onshore import terminal, said a company source.
“They will need to get a source of additional gas. It is under evaluation for future expansion,” he said.
