BG Group has begun a search for a potential site for an onshore LNG production plant in Tanzania.
The company said screening studies are under way. “The process has started and it will take a long time,” said boss Frank Chapman.
BG added that it views India as an “ideal” candidate to take LNG imports from Tanzania.
The company hopes to drill three to four exploration wells in 2012 across blocks 1, 3 and 4 off the East African nation’s coast.
