The Italian government has officially published a final decree authorising the LNG Medgas import terminal.
Publication in the Official Journal puts the decree into effect after it was signed off by the environment, economic development and infrastructure ministries last month.
More bureaucracy remains, however, before construction can kick off at the terminal near the port of Gioia Tauro on the southern tip of the Italian mainland.
The port authority is awaiting technical feedback from the Supreme Council of Public Works before it can issue its approval, which will mark the final administrative consent.
Phase two of the front-end engineering and design work must be completed ahead of the award of construction contracts.
