Gate LNG in Rotterdam received its first commercial cargo on-board the 267,335-cbm Bu Samra (built 2008) yesterday.
German utility RWE is said to have bought a shipment from Qatar before sending in the volumes on the Q-Max sized vessel.
The 12 billion cubic metres per annum Gate terminal is owned by Vopak and Gasunie.
First-phase off-takers RWE-Essent, E.ON Ruhrgas, Dong Energy and a joint venture of OMV and EconGas each signed up for 3 Bcma of LNG from the project over 20 years.
