LNG imports are back on the agenda in Morocco following the appointment of new Energy Minister Fouad Douiri.
Akwa Group and SNI, an investment fund controlled by Morocco’s King Mohammed VI, teamed up last year to pursue an LNG import terminal project.
Plans were put on hold, however, when the country’s political future became uncertain towards the end of last year.
Talks are on between Akwa Group and the energy ministry to bring the new minister up to speed before a decision on site location can be made.
