Perusahaan Gas Negara of Indonesia is conducting a feasibility study into installing a floating storage and regasification unit off the island of Bali.
PGN director of technology and development Saputro Djoko was quoted this week as saying the work has been under way for three months and is due to be completed in late 2012.
He said the Bali FSRU would not require the level of investment needed for the company’s other floating import project.
State energy company Pertamina said a year ago it was planning to build a $300 million LNG receiving terminal at Pesanggaran near Denpasar on the island to allow electric utility PLN to switch feedstock at its Bali power plant over from diesel fuels to natural gas.
