Sri Lanka has struck an initial deal that could lead to a partnership with India’s Petronet LNG on the island nation’s maiden import terminal.

Government-appointed Lakdhanavi, a subsidiary of engineering outfit LTL Holdings, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the terminal operator.

Under the deal, Petronet LNG will conduct a feasibility study into building a small-scale onshore terminal that would be fed with re-exports from the company’s Kochi regas facility under construction on the west coast of India.
