Chubu Electric Power’s chief fuel buyer this week poured cold water on hopes that its nuclear plants will reopen next year, underlining the Japanese utility’s need for additional LNG supplies.
“Three of the atomic units have not restarted and will not be restarted next year,” Yuji Kakimi said.
LNG import requirements will inevitably rise as the company continues to suffer from the aftermath of the crisis at Tokyo Electric Power Company’s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant.
