Tokyo Electric Power Company will shutter its only operational nuclear power plant on Monday, leaving Japan’s largest generator fully reliant on LNG and other imported fuels.
Tepco is launching a maintenance shutdown on unit 6 of its Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station.
This will be the 10th regular inspection of the 1360-megawatt reactor but Tepco said it does not know when the facility will restart.
Maintenance works are expected to last two and a half months.
