Lithuania’s parliament has backed a plan to build the country’s maiden LNG import terminal.

Energy Minister Arvydas Sekmokas presented the project to lawmakers and won the support of 82, with just one member against the proposal. Another 11 abstained from the vote.

The project will be further discussed on 7 June, according to The Baltic Course.

State-owned oil outfit Klaipedos Nafta is developing the project, with Hoegh LNG providing the floating storage and regasification unit.
