Liberty Natural Gas has withdrawn its original US LNG terminal permit application to pave the way for modified plans.
The developer has written to the Maritime Administration to pull the 2010 documents. Earlier this year, Liberty approached Marad with a scaled-down version of the proposed floating project but has yet to turn the new plans into an official application.
“We will make the new filing prior to year-end with first gas now anticipated in 2016/2017,” said Liberty president Roger Whelan.
The new permit application will detail a deep-water port to be located more than 30 miles from the New Jersey shore and 19 miles south of Zachs Bay, Long Island.
