Lebanon has plumped for a floating solution at its first LNG import terminal.
The government this week called for expressions of interest from companies wishing to help develop the facility following a study into the available options.
Project consultant Poten & Partners has advised that utilising a floating storage and regasification unit at a site in Beddawi, around five kilometres north of Tripoli, would be the “optimal solution”.
The shipbroker and consultancy had been assessing both onshore and offshore options.
It also evaluated a number of sites and ran a study to determine the ideal capacity of the project, according to a government source.
