Singapore hinted at plans to build a second LNG importterminal this week.
Alongside the facility being built, this would give thecountry considerable capacity to build an LNG trading hub.
The island republic has long felt vulnerable about any formof dependency on its larger and more resource-rich neighbours. LNG imports willhelp spread that risk and Singapore clearly hopes having the infrastructure inplace to increase the volumes will give it more clout when buying pipeline gas.
